Hannams final sale of 2014 once again proved the Chinese Market shows no sign of stopping with strong prices for selected works of art, Clocks are also becoming increasingly popular at auction, the top seller being a wonderful Automaton bird clock by Bontems of Paris selling to a Chinese buyer for £12,000, a wonderful 19th century French porcelain panelled carriage clock made £3800 and from the same vendor, an unusual 18th century Lantern clock by Richard Raymont of Bury made £2600, various Jaegar Le Coultre Atmos clocks consigned for sale fetched prices from £300 to £1200, the latter for a more unusual red panelled 1970s example with original box and certificate, a Mortlake stoneware jug decorated with hunting scenes made £700 and a flask from the same vendor realised £220 under the hammer, A Cantonese snuff bottle of unusually large form tripled low estimate making £1000, a 1950s 18ct yellow gold gentlemans rolex made £4000 selling to an online bidder against four phone lines, and a highly unusual automaton pocket watch with moving figural hands sold to a Chinese mainland buyer for £4200, Hannam’s were consigned a selection of Chinese gilt bronze buddhas for the auction, formed in a private local collection and after seeing the sale of a previous buddha in our October auction, a delighted vendor saw two exceptional results, £6500 for an 18th Century Tibetan seated male and £7500 for a more traditional figure of Amitayus, our next sale will be January 23rd at 11am , selling Chinese and Japanese works of art, European Ceramics, Silver, Jewellery, Furniture, Bronzes and Works of Art, entries close on Monday January 12th, charges for selling are 5% Plus VAT with no other charges, for more enquiries please contact the saleroom at www.hannamsauctioneers.com or on 01420 511788.
